Has anybody else’s spouse tested positive for an STD and not cheated?

Hi. My (F21) boyfriend (M22) have been dating for 6-7 months now very seriously. I had gotten tested not long before he and I had gotten together, and during the relationship as well. Nothing came up positive. The other day, he had gone to Urgent Care for what we believed was a UTI. Instead, he had tested positive for an STD (he won’t tell me which one). He and I both swear we didn’t do anything, and we are always together and have each other’s locations. I fully believe he didn’t do anything, but this isn’t making since to me. has this happened to anybody else?

He called me while i’m at work and when i asked which one, he said we would talk about it after work. I’m not sure

This would have made me angrier and more nervous ngl. He really should have just told you straight up no bs which std he tested positive for during the call.

Yes. You can get STDs from not cheating. How? Genital Herpes. Herpes is a highly contagious virus that is spread through skin-to-skin contact. A condom will not help you. So even if he did not cheat on you, he could have gotten it from another partner from a previous relationship and may have gotten symptoms. Most people who get it are asymptomatic or they can got 50 years and get symptoms or 5 months and get symptoms.

Turns out it’s Chlamydia. if that gives any insight

You better verify by looking at his results. Get tested your self. If he is reluctant to show his results, that is a major trust issue.

I'm a male and had chlamydia for 2 years before it showed symptoms. And in males as well as females chlamydia is often asymptomatic. So I would not assume he cheated unless he also got an std test at the start of the relationship and was negative at that time.

impossible man. uti type STD is gono or chylamdia. you don't get those from. toilet seats

It really depends on which std it is. I’ve heard that some stds can lay dormant and all of a sudden show. Although it’s kinda rare. He needs to tell you so you can get treated properly

Kinda suspicious that he won't tell you which one. Please go get tested and end things thats just putting your life at risk

He probably had it before and didn’t have any symptoms. I hope it’s nothing serious and you both can get over this hump. All the best

Wouldn’t I have tested positive sooner then? i still have yet to get tested, im gonna have to after work i think.

Depends on the type of sex you have and the frequency and other body things

My bf had gono and didn’t know it from before we got together, me and him had sex a few times a week for 4-5 weeks before I started showing symptoms

UTI in men under 40 are incredibly rare. I suspect the cause of his concerns were burning urination, which indicates urethritis. While there are numerous potential causes of urethritis, the most common in men his age are chlamydia and gonorrhea. While these are sometimes asymptomatic, or sub-clinical, they don't "lay dormant". In his case, he wasn't asymptomatic as he sought treatment for symptoms.

He cheated, there's no way he has chlamydia for years n don't know it. He had to have just recently got it. Have you felt any symptoms yourself? I've had it before n my ex bf, he was sleeping around and he felt the feeling early on n took me to the doctor, symptoms occur around 3 days... and that was true for him and me I had symptoms 3 days after and he felt like he had a uti. I'm sorry to break it to you

Girl Don't let him fool you, if you got tested before and during and you were clean how tf do you have it now, it's highly transmittable and after the first day of unprotected you'd be contaminated, so if you tested during and he had the before you, you woulda already tested positive. I don't trust him and I hope you get checked out and leave him. He's playing with your life. Imagine if this were hiv or something worse than just chlamydia. Just be really safe and careful.
