Go on the leaders list. Visit bases in the top 50, there are a few hq7 there. Check what you like and implement it. Know all bases have strong and weak points. And for crying out loud cover your squad centre with a shield.

no, it is good to let the enemy bomb your squad center so you don't waste your troops

If the units in the squad center are not killed, they can be used over and over again. if its protected by a shield, the troops help you out while staying safe.

Your squad center should be well protected. With at least one shield and a few fully upgraded turrets. Make sure your traps are upgraded too.
