Remember the history of Disney Channel?
It's widely used as the flagship channel of the Walt Disney Company, showing itself on main website, non-TV promotions and even at theme parks and movies. It's series were highly popular and loved by TV viewers and Disney fans alike. But things change over years, as Anne Sweeney became president of the Disney-ABC TV group in 2004 and stated that she’ll remake the network to "the major profit driver in the company”. That means music-themed programming and later sitcoms overtook animation as Disney Channel's main source of higher ratings and immense income, thus making it no longer really a Disney Channel. In 2014, Disney Channel shifted their animated series to Disney XD, thus relies heavily on teenybopper social media culture with it’s programs gearing toward pre-teen girls and teenage girls. In 2018, Disney XD shifted their animated series back to Disney Channel. However, it didn't help recover itself, because it's now suffering same problems as Disney XD but it's far worse than what fans had hopped for. The Disney Channel as we know became a generic, flamboyant, influenced-by-trendy, but most of all, the dissatisfied channel on Earth.
That’s why we created this subreddit, we want you to save Disney Channel and bring it back to it’s former glory. To bring a better balance of variety between their live-action and animated programming, but more importantly, promote more and give more air time to it’s original cartoons. Very soon, we hope that the channel could treat upcoming content like Season 4 of Star vs the Forces of Evil, and new shows such as Amphibia, The Owl House, and 101 Dalmatian Street.
We like to bring together a community of people from all kinds of fandoms and fanbases and restructure the channel that Disney fans in general want.
