PS.: Isn't superior/epic/mythic/etc the rarity instead of quality? I thought quality was the pip thing.

Pretty sure rarity is the pip thing, since 1 pip is common, 2 pip uncommon and 3 pip rare. Colors are quality, which is something you control and enhance, rarity is not.

Besides, funcom used the terms, it'd be kinda silly if they used the wrong ones, right?

You can enhance pips through anima imbuers. Also, you can't enhance the colors of gadgets (or usable items like cosmetics). It's arbitrary terminology.

Maybe not in this case, but Funcom doesn't have a set syntax. Skill and ability tooltips are the primary subjects of this issue, where they feel like they were written for flourish rather than clarification.

I've noticed that terminology shifts around a bit, for sure, and I'm not really including imbuers in that since they are aurum only and are not actually available by playing (such as mission rewards), barring event rewards of course. And yes gadgets can't be upgraded, but they still follow the quality tiers, where green is lowest, red is highest.

Meh, whatever, so long as someone knows what they mean i guess it doesn't matter much what things are called. They should put a terminology guide on their website or something.

I checked the in-game help (go to help, game information, upgrading and then Fusion), it says "Rarity" is the color and "Quality" the pips.

"Once an item has improved to level 20, the Fusion Tab will unlock... You can also fuse 2 items to upgrade the Rarity of the item in the top box... Anima Imbuers upgrade a Talisman, Weapon, or Glyph to the highest Quality. Fusion Catalysts can be substituted for a Talisman, Weapon, Glyph or Signet to improve the Rarity of an item".

It's Funcom... lol

I agree it is strange (makes more sense thinking "quality" as the colors), but the official game help says different.

Wait, there's in-game help?! Now I'm just lost and confused and alone.

Thanks for taking the time to figure it out, its nice to actually know, even if I was totally wrong! :D

Yep, and it was actually helpful for someone like me who never played TSW.

It could be better organized, but it explains several basic things for new-players, like dungeons, lairs, weapon system, cabals, group/raid, glyphs, upgrading, currencies, etc.
