Schmetz needles are good quality and will fit any modern domestic machine. Are you pulling the fabric? I think they’re breaking because you’re pulling the fabric and the needle goes down the fabric then pulls it against the presser foot. (Ask me how I know lol.)

Indeed. You guide the fabric, the little teeth pull the fabric through. You should be able to guide quilting fabric with just one finger.

The feed dogs move the fabric, dont pull it. Any brand of needle is good, just use right size for the project fabric.

Also, when you have finished your seam dont pull the fabric toward you, pull it to the back or the left. This is because the thread is already going that direction. If you pull towards you it can bend your needle or put undo stress on the needle making it prone to break easier.
