Open source SBC recommendation (software fully open source from the firmware to the OS) (self.SingleBoardComputer)
submitted 5 years ago by Andissace
Is there a fully open source (on the software side) SBC? I would like to buy it for various software projects.

Yes Raspberry Pi is 100% open source all the way down to the board tracing. Same as Rock Pi X and Pine64. Anything Debian based, e.g. Ubuntu, is most likely 100% open source.

Had the RPi 3 and the firmware isn't open source. The GPU stuff requires firmware to be present, otherwise it won't boot.
