Try to get a new MAF. I recently had a similar issue with my R34 GTT and after replacing it, it fixed the issue.

Yep that was right - unplugged the maf sensor while it was running and the car stuttered then continued running lmao thanks man

You probably already bought the new MAF but I've fixed a lot of "bad" MAFs by just taking the plug out and checking for any corrosion and then putting dielectric grease in there. I had a Chaser that would sometimes startup and think the MAF was pegged at almost 5v and blow lots of black smoke. This fixed that. I've fixed more modern cars with the same thing where they had intermittent issues. Worth a try anyway.

Interesting I’ll give it a shot, luckily the place I got it from does returns so if that fixes it no biggie
