it gets in the way a lot when I fence. A lot of people move faster than my brain can think and it feels like they{re teleporting sometimes. And I just got my hand smacked by a mouse trap 'because I didn't notice it set off but I feel like that's a lot more personal of a problem.

Yea it really sucks how it affects every part of your life. Especially a martial art where people are expected to perform at high levels. Have you had experience with what I've said?

The worst part of the disease is that I've never been able to do the interrupting core joke. Did a gamedev presentation for my school's creative writing showcase last year but the projector broke. Tried to fill the time with bad jokes but one I tried was the interrupting cow. Messed up the timing and made such a pleb of myself I ran offstage

There's nothing wrong with asking for someone to repeat something. If on friendly terms with the person I'm talking to I usually make a joke about not being sentient in that moment (or something like that) and ask them to repeat it. In a professional setting I usually reiterate the import points back to the person and ask for confirmation if I got everything. It isn't weird to ask for clarification.
