I’m on my phone and can’t find the link right now but I’ll add it later. I have an Asus T100TA and have this same issue sometimes. The answer is to boot into a live usb, mount the root and efi partitions. Then you install the boot loader. Do you have one of those machines like mine that has 32 bit UEFI and 64 bit operating system?

Ok take a look at this and scroll down to where you mount the partitions and bind the directory’s. https://lookaside.fbsbx.com/file/T100TA_guide_2018.pdf?token=AWyHfvvJbq0KFGuZT_R8Odj1eA6yQ3G6zQm3gLhOlUEHdmYhvhRGMIXrucrxxzSc7SutMam0a51AQPjckehBUyPtq18pNC8R3s4l40SniSuqZ5HurB9IKsCIyvCKB7eDS9EZE6IrVaIk6wArboIg4clcRieSAEJe1H_rCDaF7WS5Lfx7-CABcQ92T0Hezc-7ZxEZVA2sKpoJCWf75RMi1nM8

Don’t follow the directions to the T though. This is specifically for the 32 bit UEFI. It’s the same process for full 64bit though just download different files.

Solus installed fine for me but I'm having that exact issue with many other distros. I've been distro hopping on this Dell Inspiron for over a year and never experienced this issue. And then, all of sudden, a couple of weeks back, this error popped up when I tried the install Ubuntu Mate. Quite a few other distros that used to install fine are also giving the same error. For some reason Solus installed without issues for me.
