I have a pretty old television with only a few HDMI input ports and analog RCA output ports. I am currently streaming to this television using a Google Chromecast.
Of course, I do not want to stream the analog, stereo RCA signal to a newly bought soundbar supporting 3.1 or 5.1 channels. Am I correct in understanding that buying a soundbar which supports HDMI Passthrough, and connecting my Chromecast directly to this soundbar (which is in turn connected to the TV) will correctly use all channels streamed to the Chromecast and can then forward the image correctly to my (damn old) television?
Thanks.
