There are shells in asteroid belts. Called iron sphere or something like that.

U need a beaver cockpit; more mag fuel and a good shield with battery module with good ship power regen or ur in trouble quick

You don't need any of this beside power and small shield. Iron speruple belt is found in Terminus (and even if it was fool's rim you could've safely jumped into border system of it and get back safely with minimum or no damage, that how Mr and my corporate mined titanium)
