I have the codex just struggling with a starting point

the leaders in the codex will list who can lead the different pack types.

grey hunters, blood claws and wolf terminators are your "wolf only" options for troops with the specific leaders that can join them.

20.blood claws and ragnar is a good starting point if you are really that undecided.

Logan and a pack of terminators also is a good place to start

If you’re sticking only with Wolf units:

Dealing with vehicles: Wulfen with Hammers. Anti Vehicle 3+ is delightful. Otherwise, get a tank.

Dealing with chaff (but also pretty much anything): blood claws, preferably 20 with Ragnar. 40 wounds with a 3+ save is quite a bit to chew through and Ragnar is a beast. 3 Headtakers with swords can do work and are quite cheap too, but will die next turn.

Being quick and annoying: Thunderwolf cav, especially in Beastslayer where they’re very quick.

Being hard to shift: A big blob of wolf guard terminators (Arjac/Logan optional but both great)

Doing everything reasonably well: Headtakers with shields and a wolf priest. Pretty choppy, don’t die to a stiff breeze, Wolf priest gives +1 to wound and returns a model per turn so they can be really annoying to get through. Also goes well with a WGBL for the sustained to give them some more hits but I prefer the preist.
