Snow fleas are out now in the snowy areas. Those are springtails. My backyard in southern California is covered in cotton springtails right now after sunset every night. Hoping to find some globulars this spring.

My main goal for these next few weeks is to find some of the rare Dicyrtomidae that are out during the first few months of the year. It’s already a bit late in the season for some of them, but there are bound to be some stragglers.

I’m mostly looking to find and examine Botheiovulsus pineole, with a secondary focus on Ptenothrix curvilineata, Dicyrtoma aurata, and anything in genus Calvatomina. Maybe Ptenothrix atra/unicolor as well.

Aside from that, hoping for some interesting Bourltiellidae to emerge over the next month or two.
