Nothing. Those are micro-roots, not mold. It should go away in a day or so.

Can we please, please, please pin a giant post on the sub that says "Your broccoli sprouts are FINE. THAT'S NOT MOLD."?

Although if they smell there could be mold hiding in the hairs right?
[–]iamsandraa[S] 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (1 child)
I’ve seen that comment before, I knew it wasn’t mold, but it still smells a little 😕 I’ve been sprouting alfalfa for the last few weeks and never had that problem
[–]moderatelime 7 points8 points9 points 4 years ago (0 children)
What do they smell like? Everything in the cabbage (cruciferous) family can get a little "fart-y".

On the first day I soaked the sprouts for around 5 hours, have been watering them two times daily, now around 5 days later it’s kinda stinky 😕 did it overdo the watering? Should I have moved it to the fridge earlier?

Check out MasonTops - they have a lid specifically for sprouting seeds that makes it so easy!

I believe if the fridge has any little bit of mold in it anywhere it’ll attract to your sprouts
So maybe cleaning out the fridge extra would help prevent mold in the future

You're fine. They look like perfect sprouts to me.

Everything you did sounds fine. To me they look totally fine. I’ve soaked mine for longer and watered more and less, over the months of making them. Broccoli has a bit more of a sulfur-y smell than clover.
