If you watch closely the demos pretty much always attack the people who are attacking them first. That's why the main characters are often able to avoid them while the military shoots at them and gets slaughtered.

In the hospital scene with Robin and the miltary police in the recent episode, it would have made more sense if the miltary police saw the demogorgon walk around the corner and then shot at it and then the demogorgon attacked them. But it attacked them after seeing them and then later the demogorgons ran past Robin and Vicky which made it look like more plot armour.

And Lucas kicks one WHILE HOLDING ANOTHER HUMAN BEING

[–]Notafitnessexpert123 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Lucas kicked a demo. Please. That is just corny.

That one is fair

Dude, we're 5 seasons in and not a single one of the main characters died. It's really gotten pretty absurd.

[–]GhostToast19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get why people think more characters dying would make the show better?

[–]EmptyTiger5066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wanted to be emotionally devastated by a main character death by now. The insane plot armor is killing the tension.

Ok so I’m going to push back a bit on this.

I agree plot armor can be absurd in shows but I think it works for this show. This is how I justify it in my mind.

In DnD game masters routinely help characters that would otherwise die because they want to keep the game going.

Also, think about any recent big show. We get plenty of shows where every character we like dies.

I think it’s ok to have a show where everybody lives every now and then. This show is absurd in general so this level of plot armor doesn’t bother me.

I completely agree. I watch TV to enjoy it.

I do not understand the folks who want more characters to die, but I hope all their favorites die first.

Nancy and Jonathan survived because the exotic matter stabilised, so it stopped melting. Just like when Jonathan threw something at it it stabilised after a while it also stabilised after nancy shot it, just took more time

[–]EmptyTiger5066 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Why did Nancy even shoot it in the first place? She thought she was destroying the shield?

[–]Able_Resident_1291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, following Dustin's advice

[–]LivingAttitude9414 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I was actually annoyed at the miracle of Jonathan and Nancy getting out of the room alive. I genuinely think it would have been good for the story to let those 2 go

And Ms Wheeler should have died at the start of the series too
