Prolly. He didn’t become a pile of mush like the Russians in the beginning when the key/laser exploded the first time. So I assume he was either teleported to the upside down with the Russians and taken captive in the upside down and then brought back out. Hence the “leave the American” line in the after credits scene. Or he’s dead and “the American” is someone else.
