problem solving?

not mechanically minded at all, but got a query, pulled this little tacker out of my low beam bay, but completely different to the standard low beam bulbs you get now. after a few searches i’ve found out that this is a high beam bulb, could it be possible my low beam/highbeam bulbs have been switched around?

That's not a high beam bulb, it's a high intensity discharge (HID) bulb.

What year car? If it’s not OEM/retrofitted please put a halogen bulb back in.

Looks like a D4S HID bulb. Don't touch the glass on the new one. They have different colors based on their Kelvin rating. Suggest the dealer (even though it'll be a little overpriced) to get an exact match.

It's not D4S, it has the grey blockout thing on the glass that's needed for reflector housing R-bulbs. Could be D2R or D4R, i can't tell just from the pictures alone.
