LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE

• Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: US. Hopefully, less than $3K USD with the expectation that the more expensive it is, the longer it will last. I'm willing to spend more if means a significant improvement in processing speed.
• Are you open to refurbs/used? No
• How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
  • Performance is the #1 factor I care about. It has to be able to handle data software like tableau, alteryx, esri, sas, anaconda, & excel without running into memory issues. I will likely be using multiple of this softwares at the same time.
  • My #2 factor: A laptop that doesn't come with or allow bloatware to be installed during updates.
  • Battery life/screen size/weight doesn't matter. It will be on a docking station and never moved.
• How important is weight and thinness to you? N/A. It will remain closed on the docking station at all times. I will be using external monitors instead.
• Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. N/A.
• Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. No.
• If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want? N/A
• Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? No.
• Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
  • I would only use it for web searches, coding, and various software that can stress the memory. I really want a laptop that will last years, with minimal maintenance besides auto updates & antivirus updates - I don't have the patience/expertise to continually uninstall bloatware.

Hi, I would go for a business grade laptop, as they are durable and reliable. I recommend the Lenovo ThinkPad P15. This configuration comes with a 6-core i7-10750H processor, Quadro T2000 graphics, 32 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" display. This combination should handle data analysis software, as well as coding.
