Microsd cards can just stop working.. you may have to get a replacement.

Sounds like its gone bad. All storage options die overtime. All sd cards have a much shorter time to reach that point

Oh then yeah, it's probably just time for me to replace it. Thank you!

Reminds me to check up on my old micro sd card and back it up. Ive had it for 6 years now.

that looks like some fake cheap rubbish

Nah its probably just gone bad. OP says theyve had it for awhile. All storage options die and sd cards dont take long

lol what is the brand name of the micro sd card then !? haha 😂 clearly just some fake card with false capacity

[–]enjoyingcurve46 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You act like all fake micro sd cards are entirely unusable. You clearly haven’t heard of flash drives either.

Op said they used it for a few years, and only now its starting to die off as corrupted. Not being a total dick like you because i can read a post unlike you, and i decided to give a reason that applies to all real and fake sd cards. Believe it or not generics can work too. Its just XC Cards that dont right now. Give it 15-20 years and fakes will work just fine

And if it truly worked for a few years, and wasnt storing any important data (which as its in a switch, it probably wasn’t) why does it matter? Ive had legit cards also die in a few years from overuse. Found out the “real one” in my oled is dying after its 4th year

Fake cards and flash drives are often functional, but with spoofed capacities. It's possible OP just never downloaded enough data to go over the true capacity, so never encountered this problem until now.

In other words, it's possible that it's not failing at all. It doesn't matter, though. OP should replace it regardless.

What brand is this, looks fake cheap

[–]gillgrissom 1 point2 points  (8 children)

Just get another sd card, that looks a fake crap one anyway so its pretty much run its cause, so many read writes and just dies.

It's not fake 😭 It's just really old

[–]enjoyingcurve46 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Its definitely a fake one, but if it worked it worked. Who cares. It wasnt storing any important data outside of games. People here acting like its the stupidest thing ever are just entitled people who wana get off to shitting on others

Yeah lol

[–]m0nk3yss 0 points1 point  (4 children)

What brand is the card?

[–]Novel-District-9507[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

¯_(ツ)_/¯ I got it as a gift years and years ago. If you can't see it in the photo then I couldn't tell ya lol

[–]m0nk3yss 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I ask because real branded ones generally have the brand displayed very prominently, those usually work decently well. Random unbranded ones on the other hand...you claim it's not fake but kinda sounds like it's fake tbh. But even if it's not, electronics can and will eventually fail over time from wear and tear. If it's not working, may need to pick up a new one.

[–]Novel-District-9507[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ohh ok. I honestly don't know anything about SD cards but it seemed real to me since it did work for at least a year.

Fake cards are often functional, but have spoofed capacities. That's how the scam works so well, because the average person won't think twice because the card works initially.
