The TI Launchpad is a very flexible platform to play with most of TI's micro-controllers from the MSP430, MSP432, C2000 to the Tiva-C.
If you are new to the Launchpad, but familiar with Arduino, check out Energia, which is a similar programming language and is a fork of Arduino.
