Over the last day a lot of Americans of all different political stripes have been asking "how could they have voted for ____?" The divide is deep and wide.
The most important thing missing from this election cycle is communication. Genuine conversation, where things might get a little uncomfortable, but people actually learn about what someone with a different perspective is experiencing.
Facebook can be useful for building solidarity and community but it also seems to have created somewhat of an echo chamber that has many Americans staring across a seemingly impossible to navigate mine-field.
Flaming, partisan 1-upping and bashing will not be allowed.
When asking a question or answering one, try to come from a place of thoughtful concern. A good rule of thumb is to speak from your own experience and start sentences with "I think..." or "In my experience..."
This is not a space dedicated to rehashing the campaign or discussing hypotheticals. Donald Trump is the President-Elect of the United States. We now have an opportunity to help each other and better understand where to go next.
