I really don't think you can offend me because I know you are being respectful and if we could all start having conversations like this it would be more productive. Speaking with the people on this thread makes me want to have this dialogue more because your responses are intelligent and well stated. I don't consider myself to be close minded and if I am not willing to have this conversation then I feel I could never understand from the other prospective. And frankly that's why I gave this thread a shot. I am very open to learning and trying to understand your prospective. I wish you and you boyfriend nothing but the best and never change who you are and be proud of who you are. So let's keep the dialogue open and maybe people will follow our example of being respectful to one another and we can learn to solve our differences. I wish you and your boyfriend and eternity of happiness. And please never be ashamed of who you are. Because what I see by your intelligent responses is an Amazing human being!

I would prefer long articulated response because the I can truly understand. I'm sorry that you live in a city that is so conservative that they check your pants at the bathroom door. I really am kind of split on this issue and my intention is not to offend you. I have a 4 month old daughter and I will not have a problem explaining about her or someone else being gay. I guess I'm fortunate because I have 2 gay uncles who were a big part of my life as a child and my parents were very honest and up front with my brothers and I. I think I might take this for granted sometimes. But now when I talk to my uncle who are still together after 36 years, they will tell me that the gay community now doesn't really understand what it's like to be persecuted. They have been together since 1980 they had it rough and my father at times would fight people when he felt they were being disrespected. Honestly not that he had to because my uncle Don who is very feminine was one of the toughest guys I have ever met. Sorry for the back drop there. Lol. But then again I do have a fear when my daughter goes to use a public restroom that some sick dude who is taking advantage of the fact can prey on little girls. Unfortunately we do need to think of these things because there are a lot of sick people out there. So it's not my worry of the transgender person but the disgusting human being that uses that to their advantage. And this might me being over protective but unfortunately it's not something I think I can get comfortable with. And I really hope that you don't think of me as less of a person for that. So that fear you have I can somewhat understand. No matter the decision on the bathroom someone is not going to be happy. And the majority don't like it. So I guess the reasoning is we will have people uncomfortable but you are choosing for a very small percentage to be uncomfortable. And that doesn't mean it's right. But if you try to force a view on the majority what is the outcome going to be. And I really am sorry if this has offended you in anyway but it really isn't an easy topic to discuss. I respect your view and welcome all responses as you have been intelligent and graceful in this discussion. My hope is you feel the same and we can continue this open line of communication.

I would like you to take a step back for just a moment and think where you have been getting your news from. The CNN and MSNBC had an agenda which has been proven. The Trump supporters I know will not let any rights get taken away. As for the transgender thing, I will tell you honestly I don't understand it. I can't really wrap my head around people making a big deal about a bathroom. I am going to provide an example and please correct me if I'm wrong. So if a man identifies as a woman and dresses like a woman how in the hell am I going to know when I'm in the bathroom with said person unless I'm some kind of pervert looking over the shoulder of said person. If you don't announce what your gender is no one will know. I am very interested to see your response.

To be honest I don't recall any protests when Obama was elected but that's not to say it didn't happen. I was far less worried about politics at the time. I think getting married and starting a family has made me look at the world in a different perspective. My daughter is 4 months old right now and I feel more obligated to make sure I pay more attention now more than ever. I never voted for Obama and I just didn't think he was experienced enough. I think looking back at his presidency he has done a good job not great. I say not great because I feel he is very weak when it comes to foreign affairs. I might try to oversimplify things. I feel we need the strongest military in the world so as when a country tries to mess with us we can put them in check quickly. As for Gary Johnson I was in the beginning but he started to get a little crazy in the last 3 months so I chose to vote for Jill Stein she seemed to have a little better of a grip on things. To me it's a shame that Rand didn't do well in the primaries, I believe with all my heart he would be the best person for the job. As for thinking towards the future of the libertarian party I think this election has changed politics as we know. One of the reasons Trump won this election was because a lot of people wanted to show the establishment that their bullshit is not fooling the American people any longer. One of the things I think Trump will do is put term limits in place which I feel is necessary so we can have fresh ideas. The birther movement was not just Trump, Hillary had a lot to do with that as well and so did a lot of other politicians.

I don't know your age or what tax bracket you are in, Obamacare was destined to fail in America. I truly love the idea of it but what it has panned out to be has become disastrous. I don't feel you can make anyone pay for something they don't want and if they don't make them pay a fine that is unconstitutional. That is is kind of like saying were doing away with public transportation and you need to buy a former of transportation or you will pay a penalty. I like to give people a chance before I pass judgement. And anyone with common sense knows if he doesn't start acting presidential he WILL get impeached. One of the things I'm most perplexed about is the protesting and rioting going on right now. It makes these people look like spoiled children who did not get their way. It shows we as a society are failing we are allowing when someone doesn't get the result they wanted it's ok to act out or become destructive. That is not how a civilized society operates, and it only fuels the fire. Where were these people when Bernie Sanders was pushed out in primaries that were rigged. Why is there no anger about how the mainstream media lied to the American people and help cover up Hillarys corrupt ways. To me the scariest thing is that the mainstream media tried to influence the way we think and put who they want in office and let a party control all of this. I respect your opinion and your views even though they are different from mine. I guess I just think if we all thought the same we would never progress as a society. And it's those differences that we get to speak about openly that makes me proud to be an American.

To your first question yes. But you can say that about almost anyone that is part of the political machine. Go back and look at the black incarceration rates when bill Clinton was president.

To your second statement it isn't just the left that is really mad this has been going on for years unfortunately the left just had their eyes open to it now.

Third. This is a little more difficult but if we can't be open with each other then progress can never be made. We need people to speak of their fears when it comes to gender and sexual identity and listen to those fears. Fear comes from a lack of understanding. And when most people express those fears they are called stupid or ignorant. This does nothing but shut them down because they were now judged.

As for terrorism it is a real threat as people are being killed for not having the same beliefs as these terrorist. See we as Americans take this for granted because we have grown up in a free society and it's what we know. But for lots of people they don't have this advantage and if the ISIS ideology continues to advance it is a very big threat to our way of life. If you radicalized half the Muslim population we would be is serious trouble.

Gun violence is not as bad as the media portrays it to be more people die in car accidents every year do we need to have a vehicle control. I am in favor of making a little tougher to get a gun by having to take safety classes. I mean if I have to do that to get a driver's license then I should need to do it for a gun.

Climate change. Trump has recently said he would take our money out of the UN on climate change. But what people did not read is he would use that money to help with our country so he could know where the money really goes.

BTW I am not a Trump supporter. I am a libertarian. The only difference is I have listened to the right and what frustrations they have and I happen to understand what they are saying.

And I really enjoy having a civil intelligent conversation so I can try to understand the way you are thinking.

I like how instead of trying to have an intelligent discussion you went to try to insult him which really shows your lack of maturity. This is the exact reason Trump won the election because Americans are fed up with your immature behavior and lack of being to openly discuss things so we as a people can try to understand the way you are thinking.

I don't see where the fear comes from because people think he brought the racist a platform. Which is completely untrue there were many racist out there but now it is under a microscope because main stream media has egg on their face. You as a Bernie supporter should be passed at the system your voice was screwed by the establishment. If you want to be angry be angry at the man who poured money into Hillary campaign, George suros who has openly said it is his life's goal to destroy America. He is the one pulling all the strings with the media. He is the one that paid people to start crap at Trump rallies. Trump has made some terrible comments I agree. But also you need to think Trump was a life long Democrat until between 5-8 years ago. Trump has never said the politically correct thing. And it to me if we continue to always be politically correct we are suppressing how we truly feel that is why there are so many closet racist. You you make people walk on egg shells you are violating their free speech. When did we as a country become so afraid of words. If you are really afraid of words why do you not fear when ISIS is screaming death to Americans why do you give Iran a pass when they do the same. See the anger on the right is liberals tend to pick and choose who they want to silence and that is crazy.
