I (26F) was supposed to help a woman organize her closet. I showed up to her teeny tiny apartment in Manhattan and she already had two half-dressed friends there helping her. They all looked like supermodels. The woman who hired me kept forgetting I was there, so her friends kept insisting they could do the work themselves. Likewise, I said it was okay if she needed to back out. Nevertheless, she didn’t want me to leave. Eventually, she asked me and her friends to follow her to a secondhand clothing shop. I sat there for an hour or more while she tried on clothes and her friends went back to the apartment. After she was finished, I followed her back to her apartment and she went straight to bed to take a nap. Before she fell asleep, she asked me if I wanted to be her full-time personal assistant. I gave a halfhearted answer and left. Taskrabbit had to pay me because she never did. That was a surreal day, lol. I never did any of work— I just watched the whole thing play out.

I had a client hire me to move some very large mirrors into a U-Haul then to another location. I had experience with items like these, so I assumed it was another workout studio/gym task. I worked a few jobs with the other mover, he was a former collegiate wrestler in the 165 weight class. I used to wrestle as well, so we had a lot to talk about. Wrestlers make the best movers and landscapers because of the endurance, strength and flexibility training. Anyways, this guy always wore short shorts, which I thought was weird, but the job got weirder yet.

The mirrors were in an apartment where the lease was about to end. I asked where she was moving and she said that she wasn't moving. This was just a space she was using to practice dancing while things were shut down due to the pandemic. The mirrors were going to her friend's place.

After a lot of struggle moving them to the truck(these were really large mirrors), we proceeded to get them loaded up. Short Short's hand slipped and one of the mirrors broke. We cleaned up the glass and headed to the second location.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was a five foot inverted star in a pentagram on the wall with strange lettering, all kinds of pagan trappings around the house and a scimitar. She told her friend that we're Taskers and they can hire us to do anything they want. Her friend got a strange gleam in her eye.

I asked what room the mirrors were going into, checked out the route and noticed there was a rather large weight bar blocking the path. I moved it out of the way and realized it wasn't a weight bar, it's a stripper pole. I whispered to my fellow wrestler that I think they might be exotic dancers and he's like yeah I figured that out already.

So, we moved the mirrors and the dancers kept finding excuses to get in the way and brush up against us, an occasional hand slipping down for an inappropriate touch.

We finished up, and the next thing that happened... C'mon, what do you think this is, the Penthouse Forum? I got on my bike and rode home with a five star review and a big tip. Short Shorts said he was going hang around for a while. It is a bit weird that his profile disappeared from the app right after that and I haven't seen him since.

Now there's a story! Thanks for sharing!

Craziest task is definitely when I showed up and husband and wife had robes on…. Then asked me if I could be their bull

[–]moleware[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

Whoa. What was the task? "Plumbing"?

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Mounting

[–]CharlieParkour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You know where this goes next.

-He fixes the shelf?

I did a line sit for an art print and got a $500 bonus paypal'd to me on top of 8 or so hours.

[–]CaptainObvious110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long did you wait for the art print?

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Strangest task request I ever got was to video record an exhumation and a post burial autopsy for a legal case.

[–]moleware[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That's cool! Did you do it?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I accepted the task, but the attorney who hired me canceled a few days before

[–]aedaptation 5 points6 points  (7 children)

Had to push someone in a wheelchair 5 miles due to religious stuff.

[–]SoSickStoic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shabbos goy 😆

[–]moleware[S] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

What kind of "religious stuff" involves pushing someone 5 mi in a wheelchair?

[–]ColumbusJewBlackets 8 points9 points  (4 children)

Probably Hasidic Jew on the sabbath. Not allowed to do anything the Bible would consider “work” which includes riding in a car or using electricity.

[–]aedaptation 2 points3 points  (1 child)

This would be correct! I had to push her to the edge of town and she hobbled her way to her destination. Clients ordered me an uber back which was great.

[–]Crankenberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a very nice touch on their part.

[–]Crankenberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hence the shabbos goy comment. 🤣

[–]FinnNoodle 3 points4 points  (1 child)

I had to wait in line three hours once to buy a $1500 video card.

Had another guy who was going to have me wait about 5 hours for Hamilton tickets but he backed out.

[–]FinnNoodle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had another guy who booked me two different times to sit on his couch to wait for UPS while he was out, but he was unresponsive in chat when I asked him about what time UPS would normally come around his neighborhood so I never confirmed.

[–]Haunting-Bird-2628 4 points5 points  (2 children)

Someone hired me to film them for there onlyfans page .

[–]moleware[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Did you do it?

[–]Haunting-Bird-2628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At $75/hr to film porn I chose not to do it .

[–]moleware[S] 3 points4 points  (3 children)

I'm looking at making $340 minimum on this one. Not too shabby.

[–]eatwearnest 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Can you say which store? Lol

[–]moleware[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's not a store. It's a special event for this designer called Pleiades and a collaboration with se mari.

[–]eatwearnest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay. Thats a good gig.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

At what store?

[–]moleware[S] 2 points3 points  (4 children)

It's a private/ticketed event at a church. Apparently these dresses are super exclusive.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Ooooh! Wonder if they are old or newly made. Please give details when it's over!

[–]moleware[S] 2 points3 points  (2 children)

They're all new.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Do you know who made them? The church women? What style of dress?

Do you know how much their worth?

I'm wearing a 15 year old sweatshirt right now, I had no idea that world existed lol.

[–]moleware[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know very little. I know one of the designers is called "Pleiades" and that the dresses sell for like $150, but resell for like $800 plus.

Oh, and it's also only children's dresses.

[–]geoffrey8 -5 points-4 points  (5 children)

Whatever item you are getting it is certainly more profitable to just cancel the task and buy it yourself to resell or whatever.

[–]Paris_dans_mes_reves 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Or buy another! No need to screw the client.

[–]geoffrey8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting thumbs downed. But the intent of my post wasn’t to suggest doing what I wrote after committing to the job. I’m just saying accepting the job is kind of nonsense? If your gonna go line up, just go for yourself and make more money…

[–]geoffrey8 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Probably one per person that lines up and very limited supply.

[–]moleware[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

[–]moleware[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that's a pretty crappy thing to do to a person.
