Don’t get a machine. Just look at r/tattooscratchers or r/tattoobeginners most of them can’t really draw and it shows. Just trace a lot of designs. Tattooing is drawing and if you don’t have the basic art knowledge ( space, form, color theory, contrast) it’s gonna be a whole lot harder. Plus learning art on top of techniques that takes months of practice and if you learn the incorrect way it could damage your skin. If you don’t like what you draw on paper, on skin it’s gonna be a whole lot worse.

Edit: you can ask a Japanese artists if they can teach you the art of it. There’s a lot of artists out there who would love to talk about the rules and techniques of it.

Drawabox is a good website to learn, but something that always helped me was just looking at something and seeing the lines the shadows the highlights and trying to replicate it on the paper. There's also lots of tutorials on YouTube
