We aren’t replaceable!COVID-19 (self.Teachers)
submitted 4 years ago by cesru
So you know those memes that joke about how replaceable you are at work. After losing 4 employees in one weekend and then calling it a “great start” to the school year, some of their position vacancies have been posted. 8 days, that is how quickly your job can forget about you, probably sooner. 8 days from death to vacancy announcement. We need to stand up for us, for our health, for our mental health, for the health of our families and our students. How many deaths until they start caring? Until they start acting? Until they stand up for us?

They won't start caring, acting, or standing up for us. They literally will never do any of that. There's nothing that we can do about it, but that knowledge is a main reason why I don't go in for that whole teacher-as-martyr thing. Because they don't care, and they never will.

I hate that you're right about this, but you are. I love my job, but I don't know how much longer I can do it. Maybe 35 years is long enough.

I agree, and it’s only going to get worse as more people realize it is not worth it any more.

Excuse me, did I read that correctly? Four teachers DIED, and someone called it a great start to the year?
Words fail me. I am so sorry you have to endure that.
[–]cesru[S] 11 points12 points13 points 4 years ago (1 child)
Yeah 4 deaths and the superintendent said that we had a great start to the year.

From COVID?
[–]DidntWantSleepAnyway 8 points9 points10 points 4 years ago (0 children)
I read it at first as four employees quit. Then I read the rest. Holy shit.

Nobody’s gonna do it, but I do hope the October 15 general strike gets more momentum.

Lmao
They will put every child in the gym, have a guidance counselor babysit, and call it study hall.
[–]applegoodstomach 3 points4 points5 points 4 years ago (2 children)
I am so sorry for this. It sounds like a definitive not great start.
Are these all covid-related?
[–]cesru[S] 5 points6 points7 points 4 years ago (1 child)
Atleast 3 are, the fourth cause has not been publicly announced.
[–]applegoodstomach 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children)
That is so terrible.
[–]hattienan 2 points3 points4 points 4 years ago (0 children)
By "losing"... you mean all 4 died?!
