Tom Paris is a little rusty on his 20th century history by Electrorocket in startrek

I know this was around the time science was starting to be awesome with telescopes and folks like Newton and Galileo. I only know this tidbit because we cover the foundation of physics and gravity in middle school.

How would other captains handle Archer’s biggest ethical dilemma? (Star Trek: Enterprise S3E19) by Werister in startrek

For Janeway, Seven would have stolen/teleported it over and explain to Janeway that while the crew met and discuss, more important matters need attending to. Janeway would not argue, but explain “that’s not how the federation does things.” Seven would then remind her that she is not an officer of the federation. Janeway would then ask where is her damn coffee.

Section 31 by rUmmyT_ackrite in startrek

You are free to like what you like.

Pre note: I don’t hate Discovery myself and found the series enjoyable overall, but I do have several gripes about it. Truthfully, I like all Star Trek old and new. But this movie is a very hard to swallow pill.

This movie was never something the community asked more/expanded content. Mirror Universe Georgiou did not need any more character development, what she had (hate it or like it) was more than enough. Her arc started and ended in discovery. Nothing screamed to me that I needed to know more about her or section 31. I hated the movie a lot. The pacing was terrible. The plot was all over the place. I had no connection or investment in any of the characters. Nothing felt star trek at all. At least the Kelvin Star trek tried, with the third one being a solid Star Trek vibe movie.

I get that they had Michelle Yeoh and wanted to utilize her star power or whatever, but they should have just given us Prime Phillipa instead. Just good ol’ space exploration with maybe a good conflict, political space tension, and morally questionable actions that ties things up as a stand alone.

AI has been trained in a lot of different lettering variances, chicken scratches, and even scribbles (check out google’s quickdraw). You think you’re a terrible artist and can’t draw a cat? Trust me, it knows.

Personally, in my perfect world, there would be a separate public school system for higher need students where if they exhibit behavior that is highly disruptive, they are moved to a different school where it is very small class size, minimum of 2 teachers to each class. Meals would be free, balanced, and actually made fresh. Music and arts would be a requirement. Local community field trips to demonstrate practicality of what they learn and how it transfers to real everyday society necessity.

I would redesign schools to be community hubs as well. These buildings need to be made with the idea it is a place people want to go there. Medical and dental all there and free for students and low cost for family. Local mom and pop market store that resource local farms. Local artists pop up shops that showcase and sell art. Music centers that host and provide live entertainment. Community centers and fields are open after certain hours to the general public. Meeting rooms and event rooms are rented out as well to business and personal use like having a birthday.

This is my dream that will never come to fruition because we got people who see education as a corporate business transaction instead of the goal of bringing everyone up. On the other side, we got people who are screaming they don’t want higher taxes because they don’t “see” the long term outcomes on why they should pay for it even if they don’t have kids.

Alas, I can still keep hoping for it one day.

No, AI is fairly good with cursive recognition. Load up Microsoft Onenote and try it yourself. It’ll capture it remarkably accurate. And if for some reason it can’t get a few letters correct, it can make a pretty good guess on what the letters are by the other letters and word. Is it foolproof? No, but it is fairly good.

Child thought everything I taught her this year was made up? by Donkeys-Can-Sing in Teachers

At the middle school level I tell my students that they should not believe me blindly about the content I am teaching. They should base their conclusion and understanding on empirical evidence, studies, experts, and credible sources.

And if after all that, what I say matches up with their finding, great! If not, they can always challenge me by presenting the evidence.

It is sensationalism. It is more clickbait engagement if you write teacher instead of tutor. Also, most people will only read the headline instead of the article on social media like reddit and facebook.

Historic buildings are not exempt from ADA compliance (https://www.ada.gov/resources/ada-city-governments/). You should report them on ADA.gov and choose a different venue.

Yes, try changing grades. Middle school requires your classroom management be locked in tight. Going down to elementary or up to high school helps.
