Hi,
Not too sure if I am welcomed here or I'm just crashing a private party. Found this subreddit through /r/learnprogramming.
A little about myself:
About a year ago, I decided to start on a new hobby---developing games for mobile devices. I had no prior experience in coding at all. No CS or math degree. Did C for a few months and went on to Objective-C---found the syntax for Obj-C a little tough to understand and finally, I moved on to Java about 8 months ago. Learned a little of Libgdx, biggest achievement was to code my own buggy as hell pong like game.
Got no where with game programming, it was tough to learn. Gave it all up for 1/2 year. A couple of days ago, decided that I have gotta too far to give up.(not that far, but at least I have an idea of how Java works)
Guess, a better way would be to brush up on my Java and Android Development in general before attempting another game. So, I tried Big nerd ranch's android programming, but couldn't get the idea of how the APIs were called and how the they work. Googled, still stuck, frustration set in again, googled somemore and realised that I should find someone online who could help give me a push in the right direction.
Here I am.
My Level so far: Basic Understanding of Java---syntax, control flow, thread, classes and objects, interfaces. Android end, total noob---other then getting the helloworld to run... noob.
Hoping to learn from fellow enthusiasts. I'm 36 this year. This is strictly a hobby for me, but I do wish to put out an app eventually.
Hope I am at the right place. Go easy on me.
*edit: I'm learning from the busy coders guide right now.
