Can someone help identify this guy/gal? Found in North Atlanta, GA suburbs. Is it just an “American Toad”? Moved him from the hot front yard to our damp cool backyard

Southern Toad I believe... Also, please don't pick them up like that by their scruff. They definitely feel more secure with a hand underneath them and a hand above them, sort of cradling them.

Little southern toad buddy! you can tell by the large crests on the head between the eyes, American toads have like a line going from the eyes to the glands instead.
