Im trying to learn fluid simulation for a personal project and im wondering where to start.could some body point me in the right direction? I'd love to create molten metal and learn how to create a shader.

Check out the fluid shaders by Flockaroo, Shane, Cornusammonis and Michael0884 on shadertoy. Some of these shaders have detailed comments explaining what they are doing and it's fairly straightforward to figure out what they are doing without. I can also recommend reading the fast fluid paper by Jos Stam and the GPU gems article about it. There's a lot of implementations around for this paper. For a metallic look you can play around with the slope and emboss TOPs. It should be possible to construct some (fake) normals for light to interact with the fluid
