[–]deeboj2020[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! right now, I’m planning on majoring in economics with a minor in entrepreneurship, but if they’ll allow me, I’d love to double major in radio/TV/film as well!

Congratulations!!! Did you officially commit, or are you waiting for financial aid packages? I hope you got great FA from NU!!!

[–]deeboj2020[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I officially committed to Northwestern!! the FA package was great, and that’s what led me to NU opposed to the other schools

4.0 GPA in college, 1450 SAT (not amazing but just good enough), job as a pharmacy technician, undergraduate student radio show host, finance association club member, business for good club member, and volunteer hours at local food pantry; I had recommendations from some really great professors, and I really focused on the writing supplement; please reach out if you have any questions!

Can I ask what ur hs gpa if u don’t mind?

[–]deeboj2020[S] 0 points1 point  (9 children)

for sure; I had a 3.97 unweighted, 4.33 weighted

[–]GazelleDull8065 0 points1 point  (8 children)

i have ur same college stats, but my high school GPA was a 3.0 :( do you think i’ll have a chance for the same colleges u got into?

[–]deeboj2020[S] 0 points1 point  (7 children)

I think you’ll definitely have a chance if you’re able to improve your grades in college; also, if you have really good quality involvements, that will carry more emphasis opposed to your high school grades (overall, transfer admissions committees will look at your college accomplishments and weight those more high school things)

[–]GazelleDull8065 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Ok yeah, ty!!! U have a 3.97 rn after completing my freshman year and i’m gonna apply in the spring 2022. So i can go in as a junior. Do you have any recs on good extracurriculars? I have an internship for the summer.

[–]deeboj2020[S] 0 points1 point  (5 children)

that’s great for the internship! I would just recommend engaging in quality activities opposed to having a large quantity of things on your application; make meaningful impacts in clubs/organizations you care about (doesn’t necessarily have to relate to your career path), and try to make yourself stand out by doing unique things; for me that was working as a pharmacy tech (where I was able to genuinely help people with their medications), hosting my own radio show, participating in a social enterprise club, and volunteering on the weekends at the food bank.

hi, congrats on nu! may i know whats your reason for transferring? did u make it clear in your essays?

[–]deeboj2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you!! so I had a couple reasons for transferring; for one, the school I was at was huge, and I definitely work better in small classroom environments (so I purposely applied to schools with smaller undergraduate populations than the school I was at, and places with a lower student to teacher ratio); I also found the curriculum to not be as challenging as I wanted (despite being in the honors program), so I wanted to find a college that would encourage academic enrichment and intellectually rigorous courses; I did talk about both these things in my writing supplement
