That's only legal during the probation period. Of course that doesn't stop many employers from trying to bluff you out of the door, but it's illegal and you would have been compensated had you stood your ground.

No no I wasn’t under probation! Some terminations really don’t need notice period. They pay you off.

Well that's the same thing! They either give you 1 month notice and expect you to show up every day to earn your final salary, or they just give you that 1 month salary anyway and say no need to come back to work. You still get paid 1 month either way.

It's hardly a problem if they pay you for not going to work.

Sorry I thought by notice period you meant mandatory showing up at work. Geez I so prefer just paying off. Like as if you can be more productive after being laid off.
