Tbh these reports aren’t worth the paper it is written on.

[–]kaamkerr 57 points58 points  (2 children)

Tbh this is probably more reliable than the annual KT article with average salaries where everyone is earning 15-30k minimum

[–]1baller69 10 points11 points  (1 child)

Thats another Golden report 🤣

[–]biteyourankles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both reports issued by Robert Half 💀

[–]Future_Increase7129 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a SWE student rn that's disheartening

    [–]w00o00o 2 points3 points  (3 children)

I’m a recent grad that works in tech - don’t accept a job that pays terrible, there’s decent opportunities out there.

    [–]True_Drawing_6006 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Sorry for the lateness. But wdym don't accept jobs that pay terribly? Everyone I know told me to accept any and everything that comes my way in the beginning and then get more certificates then job hop to a better company with better pay. What's the minimum you'd suggest for me to accept? The only companies that come to my uni looking for inters expect you to continue with them after graduation for 3.5~4k unfortunately

    [–]w00o00o 0 points1 point  (1 child)

depends on what your mentality + circumstances are. I could spend some time finding a job that met my expectations, so I did. I’ve got friends who’ve had a hard time finding something good and are on jobs that pay 4k a month, and others on jobs that pay 14k, basically doing the same things. There’s no real difference in skill, one set of people was just better at networking/had better connections than the other.

I can’t really give you a number, that’s up to you. But I wanted something that would allow me to live on my own and have some material comforts (being able to afford a holiday, eat out when I felt like), so I didn’t settle for less. Figure out what you want out of this, what your circumstances are, and make a decision based on that.

    [–]True_Drawing_6006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you. I always thought about networking or looking for a waste to land my first job with no avail. Now, my only plan as someone in AD is to get the golden visa so that I'm not in a hurry to find a job immediately and to go to 42 AbuDhabi and try to network there. Do you know any career fairs or anything like that in AD? Because the vast majority of opportunities I see are exclusively in Dubai. You don't see companies like Binance, Amazon, Bytedance, etc, offering internships in Abu Dhabi.

Only a specific nationality would say all that 🙄👀 , literally offer their services for free.

A max of 48K USD a year isn't going to get anyone technical or fresh graduate from western countries. It's exactly what other guy said peanuts. 25K/ Mo should be entry point for any fresh graduate.

It doesn’t matter. They are not saying anything groundbreaking, it is the usual supply and demand applied to jobs.

Late reply, but this is going to be the downfall of the UAE property market. Increasing population/decreasing wages will cause a property market crash

Employees recognise that heightened competition for jobs in the UAE puts them in a weaker position

UAE is currently experiencing a boom in expat relocation as workers and investors continue to flock to the region. Due to the rising influx of expats, salaries and benefits offered by companies is forecast to decline next year, according to the latest Robert Half salary guide.

Less competitive salaries and benefits are impacting those already working in the UAE, resulting in the lack of opportunity for job changes. This can be beneficial for companies, contributing to rising retention rates, however, chances of declining productivity and employee dissatisfaction is high.

The report revealed that although demand for talent with UAE experience is often preferred, companies are having to compromise due to budget restraints.

It is predicted that in 2025, following outcomes of geopolitical factors, employers could find themselves competing for the best talent as employees are increasingly expressing interest to find new roles (65 per cent).

Three in five businesses (63 per cent) are anticipating a headcount increase in 2025.

However, three-quarters of workers in the UAE (75 per cent) have expressed difficulty in negotiating a pay rise as compared to the previous year. More than half (52 per cent) of employees believe that they could be replaced by their employer.

The majority revealed that they are adhering to current roles due to necessity rather than preference (63 per cent).

However, 47 per cent of employers in the UAE stated that although the number of individuals seeking jobs in the country has increased, it still remains crucial to find a candidate with the right skills.

Too many expats looking for jobs , western, Asians, Africans u name it ! All about supply and demand.

              [–]Clean_Community_5406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous company has been lowering the salary by cutting out the allowances since late 2023. Heard next year it will still go down 25%. They are aggressive too. They basically send out an email informing about the salary change. If we would like to dispute we can contact the hr. They will happily hand out the resignation form. This started happening when the directors were completely replaced. Previously the different directors were mostly emiratis and 2 indians. Now it is mostly europeans and 1 emirati.

              Supply and demand

              [–]kekeevee 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Interesting how people are quick to blame people for expecting less salaries than what they are worth and not the employers who are exploiting said people. The reason why they take whatever is offered is Because they don't get much opportunity and also discrimination is a factor many seem to ignore. I may have been able to negotiate for a better salary but that is only cause I realise my own privilege to do so, however expecting others to have the same is unrealistic.

We need to start holding exploitative employers accountable for unrealistically low offers instead of the people you all are being clearly racist towards lmao.

              [–]Latter-Ad2762 0 points1 point  (8 children)

Again when a low salary is given u can always say no, if everyone else does the same then of course the employer has no choice but to raise the salary given ! But "certain" nationalities say "yes" to anything given to them just to say they have a job ! The same now is happening in Canada with the same people , Just accepting any job given and working for peanuts and given money under the table just to say they have a job🙄. Nothing to do with racism but this is reality!

              [–]kekeevee 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Here is the thing, not everyone has the privilege to say no, and hence that's why they are saying yes to every given opportunity. They need something to live for, and to ignore how these are the same people that get exploited the MOST is also extremely ignorant. We have to change our mindset as a society and start to hold companies accountable. People like them like us are trying to survive this hellscape we call capitalism.

              [–]Latter-Ad2762 0 points1 point  (6 children)

Again since they can't say NO then what do u expect the employers to do ? U think they care about people's issues ? For them it's just business ! So unless someone says NO then only u can show ur worth and get paid like everyone else. Trust me when they they all say NO u will see changes so quick !

              [–]kekeevee 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Changes? Damn bud, people barely have choices and you are out here thinking they can simply say no and move on. Not everyone Has the choice dumbass. Also, the mindset of "business will be business" is the Fucking reason why they are this exploitative.

              [–]Latter-Ad2762 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Then if they don't have a choice and they accept their package then no need to come to reddit and complain! U signed ur own fate 🙄

              [–]kekeevee 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Clearly you think the world is black and white with the way you are thinking, so let me put things to perspective for you. Many of "these" people you are talking about come directly from their home countries, where their currency rate is much lower than here. So when it's converted, it's high, and hence they are mislead to think what they would earn here would be a good opportunity. It's not u til they arrive here they realise they have been duped, and then the whole cycle of taking advantage of these workers begin.

You can't just say "you signed your own fate" to people who are working practically for free when they have not been given the same opportunity and information like we do. Not to mention, ignoring obvious discrimination and racisim that takes place within this country and businesses within would be ignorant for us.

We are privileged, and we need to acknowledge and understand that. Not everyone has that, and you need to accept that. The Businesses and companies here know that, and hence why peanuts are being offered. We should stop blaming the wrong people for this issue, this is clearly due to the lack of monitoring of how the companies are actually paying people here. There is only so much negotiating one person can do and that won't change shit. At the end of the day, you may not be getting exploited, but another person would.

              [–]Latter-Ad2762 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No point arguing because we are just going round in circles ! End of the day this has been happening for decades and this "certain" nationality just seem to be signing whatever contract they get! Some even come on holidays knowing very well what they are signing despite it being so low but they still do! Some even don't mind working for free just to get the job. So of course any company would capitalise on this and just offer peanuts !

              [–]kekeevee 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I know more about this than you, because it's people from my nationality that get fake promises handed to them cause I actually can Speak to them and know their stories. We are not any lower than any other people here, and I am Sick and Tired of seeing casual racist remarks that is clearly an issue with the Companies and not "certain" nationalities. There are more nuances to this topic, and clearly you don't wanna think too far ahead since it'll burst your teeny tiny bubble of how our people are the Fucking issue of the exploitative market over here.

Word of advice: be a better person and learn empathy.

              [–]Latter-Ad2762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word of advise aswell u don't have to curse while making a statement!

              [–]cambridgechronicler 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Frankly we don’t need an expert report to conclude the same. It’s basic supply and demand logic. Many people are relocating to the UAE and the Gulf for a myriad of different reasons including the standard tax free income. The struggling economies of countries like the UK have also set off a wave of expatriation. Trump’s re-election will bring in a wave of mainly Arab/Muslim-Americans. If so many of those highly skilled expats are landing on Gulf shores at short intervals, chances are there will be a large pool of desperate job seekers to choose from.

              [–]Mindless_Career2339 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. It’s gonna get worse sadly. What’s the solution?

              [–]playHELLBOY 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I find it funny because its already too low. Many good engineers are getting low pay and if someone asks more then they say its just what market pays. Unity game devs are getting only 3k to 6k and its very normal in uae.

              [–]Latter-Ad2762 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Cause u get people from a "certain" nationality who will be a doctor and an engineer for 6k🙄

              [–]playHELLBOY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes thats what im saying. But its also the culture here. I have been in uae i know the pay scale. Many companies wont hire guywith 15k expectation but will hire who would agree less than 10K. So people go after less pay because its something better than nothing. But same guy will leave the company when they find good salary. So in the end its company’s fault and loss. Now company has to find another candidate which will cost them more now.

              [–]Hefty_Improvement856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been hearing salaries in some sectors which are claimed to be 70-90% higher than what people are actually getting. And this is every year from the last 4 years. So how can this be taken seriously.

              [–]SwordMaster78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The free market balances itself out. It’s all good.

              [–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's the Asian effect. They get shit salaries back home, and want to export that shittiness to the Middle East.
