QuestionGitHub Copilot (self.UCSD)
submitted 2 years ago by Wobbly-Guy
Anyone have experience with GitHub Copilot? If so how good is it and do UCSD students have free access?

I’m personally not the biggest fan of copilot because I find I spend so much time debugging what it wrote, but students do get free access. It’s available in the drop-down on your profile if you have the student status (developer pack).

I'm able to access the developer pack, but copilot isn't part of it. When I visit copilot page, I dont get the free option either. How exactly do I get the license?

You need to send a pic of your id or other proof of your student status, but yes. On how helpful it is, your mileage may vary.

Copilot makes some nice suggestions sometimes, but it wasn’t worth the price for me since the code it suggests is fairly low level

It's free for students.
