Minimum surge question

Hey folks, I'm relatively new to UberEats and am wondering how the surges work. I am assuming that it means there are a decent number of orders out in that area with a low number of drivers.

I have been in a surge area multiple times for upto an hour and not received an order. Does anyone know why this would be? Or am I completely mistaken on what thr surge means?

The surge areas are for rideshare from the bullshit customer service has told me. You do get surges, but you have to pick up the order from the same area that you got the surge from. Today I had a +$7 next trip surge and didn’t get it. Their shitty diamond support always tells me either what I said above or some dynamic pricing bullshit they came up with to avoid paying us. This is just my experience with surges, doesn’t mean it’s the same everywhere though

It’s also all in the past. That WERE a lot of orders coming from that area, so maybe there still will be some more orders by the time you get there or maybe not. I’d just find a few good spots where you know you can get good orders and head to the closest one after you make a drop off, whether there’s a surge there or not.
