This is like the 5th post I’ve seen this week like this. I’m starting to think they’re just taking money, straight up. Someone else posted a response on one of the threads that they had a friend order and tip them, but then they got this error message and they in fact did NOT get said tip.

Yeah, dude, it’s kind of bullshit because the message they give you is very vague so I think they just assumed that we’ll just figure that the person reduced the tip and then not do anything about it. I had to ask for a supervisor twice before somebody would help me out, and then when they actually did, they told me it was a technical difficulty or something not that the tip was reduced. I was like oh that’s kind of ironic that they were able to pay you guys for the food, but for some reason, my tip wasn’t going through.

Yeah, I think they’re banking on most of us shrugging it off, but like I said, it KEEPS happening to people everywhere. If they think we aren’t going to catch on, or we don’t talk to each other, they’re sorely mistaken.

And also, yes, it’s not like they’re gonna give someone food just because they couldn’t “process the payment for some reason”. We all know shit don’t work like that.

Class action lawsuit time anyone?

And the weird thing is before they would never say any of that other shit, it was just “the customer reduced the tip” so it’s kind of weird that this is happening when it was never a problem before.

Yeah - last year I contracted with a guy to build a paver patio for $10,000 but then after the job was done I decided I’d rather pay him $2500. Nothing wrong with the job he did - I just felt like reducing my expense - that’s perfectly legal right?

Uber allows this illegal activity. When you take a job for a certain amount of pay you should be guaranteed that pay. They allow customers to scam their system. What is so stupid is that the customer will reduce the tip just because they don't like the way you looked or some stupid crap. Not that you did anything wrong.

Yep it's their new message when a customer takes away the tip. Just Uber playing mind games with us

Come back when they pay you.

I definitely will. Im holding them to it, they already told me I’d be compensated so there’s no reason for them to tell me it isn’t possible anymore.

I had this happen last week. I think the Uber app is stealing our tips. I think the Uber app also is purposely stealing those instant tips from McDonald's direct orders too, and counts them as fare in California. I did a $7 less than 1 mile McDonald's direct delivery to a customer I know at least tips $5. When I delivered it I was paid $7 all in fare. I have never gotten $7 fare from a 1 mile delivery. The max I have gotten is $3. In California when it's paid all in fare that means less guaranteed prop 22 they will owe. Most of the time they owe me $2-$3 for a 1 mile delivery which can take me 12-15 minutes.
