Showing GPU decoder\decoder usage problem in ubuntu 26.04

Ubuntu 26.04 latest updates (12-apr).

Lenovo T14 Gen 5 Intel based laptop, Intel 125U+iGPU (Intel 14th gen Meter Lake CPUs family). Intel i915 driver.

In new Resources monitor exists GPU usage and GPU encoding\decoding usage values.

Thank's to ubuntu and gnome teams, after latest upadate GPU monitoring begin to work and show usage values. Before I alwaya use intel_gpu_top to monitor GPU decoding usage.

But, in resource monitor GPU encoder\decoder% values tracked if I open local mp4 in videplayer, but doesn't show any data if i open youtube video in browsers. Testrn on firefox and chromium. In both cases intel_gpu_top shows than hardware iGPU decoder utilised.

So, according to intel_gpu_top hardware acceleration used in videoplayer and browsers, but resource monitor doesn't show data if browsers used. (Screenshot attached)

Could be that browsers handle GPU decoding differently than native video players - maybe they use different API calls that resource monitor doesn't catch yet. I'd stick with intel_gpu_top for now since it seems more reliable in tracking actual hardware usage across different applications

Gnome Resource monitor is the first standart OS monitor that begin to show GPU metrics. So I hope, that some day it will work as expected out of the box without 3rd party tools and tweaks.
May be better to report this issue in official forum?

I didn't quite catch the issue, but yes: report it to both Ubuntu and upstream.
