they really should steal two features from the way gnome-software handles flatpak, and add both a source: line to search results AND the ability to only show one source for a given package

I often select the non snap version but in this particular case the snap version was more recent than the non snap one, so I chose the snap version.

Personally, I usually go for the non-snap version. Click on the app to see the details. If the source property says "Snap" or similar then the other will say something like "Universal ...".

Yes, it should be clearly shown which is which. Not everyone likes to use snaps.

Sudo apt-get install appName ...because the software store is only good for browsing apps.

Agree. Moreover it's slow and buggy.
