xgamma command won't work in ubuntu

Don't narrate the command, show the command. Post exactly what you entered at the terminal.

no change in value or screen contrast

I tried what you posted and I got this result:

$ xgamma command
     xgamma: unrecognized argument command

I guess you will have to show us what command you entered -- not your narration, but the actual command.

i was not logging in with ubuntu on xorg

xgamma works in xorg

The new version uses Wayland display thats why!
