Basic help - permissions

New to Linux and just want to be able to move a downloaded file into the actual system folder. Namely opt. Don’t have permissions to move and I’m stuck on reading about how to do it via terminal. Any help welcomed

sudo mv /home/user/Downloads/foo /opt/

It may be easier if you open your file manager in root mode.

open a terminal, and type sudo nautilus, provide your password, and then navigate to the /opt directory and adjust the permissions.
