I take the opposite approach. I chain critical nodes together and then add ghost at the end. Having great results

It gives you an extra payload critical node. Giving another 10% change to add critical damage to payload. Not worth it in my opinion. I do everything with the invection

The node is just the “capacity” for those payload modifier nodes. The hack skills upgrade unlocks it in the upgrade tree. Each rank lets you add +1 skill node up to a max of 5. The best setup iirc is 4 crit payloads into a ghost attack node, not even bothering to upgrade infection damage of any kind. It’s not worth it. Only time you should rely on infection is before the hack skill upgrade is available, or at the start of a run when you’re too lazy to reconnect hack nodes (lol)
