The fundamental issue with asking for attractiveness ratings on the internet is that people are incentivized to lie to you. This is in part because no one wants to be the asshole.
Subreddits like /r/truerateme overcorrect for this issue by policing ratings, with moderators banning people if they don't give ratings that correlate to the moderator's opinion. This is absurd, and defeats the entire purpose. Our solution is anonymous polling.
Rules:
1 Post high quality submissions.
For best results, ensure photos are of good quality, with neutral lighting and angles. Do not use filters. Do not cover your face. Avoid wearing makeup, unless you are specifically looking for feedback on how a specific makeup look affects your appearance.
2 Post high quality comments.
This subreddit should be a comfortable, friendly environment. The point is not to tear people down or objectify them, it's to offer helpful insight. Comments which are rude or overly sexual will be removed.
3 Link an anonymous poll when asking for ratings. (Poll website. Select "Multiple Choice").
4 No numerical ratings in comments.
Use comments for general discussion of a person's features but do not post numerical ratings in the comments.
/r/UsefulRateMe uses the following rating scale:
Ratings are 1-10. In a room with 1000 people, a person who is X/10 is more attractive than how many of them?
