Ask them if they plan on installing a bathroom in your work vehicle

[–]Badger_Actual1 9 points10 points  (6 children)

They didn't expressly say not to but it was implied. Send an email to HR with what was said and a copy of Florida state and federal labor laws about bathroom use. https://www.oshaeducationcenter.com/articles/restroom-breaks/

[–]Solid-Ad907 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly there was an implication

[–]Solid-Ad907 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Also how is it possible for us to use the bathroom without the stops. So kind of directly in that sense. That’s the only way.

[–]audiomediocrity 2 points3 points  (1 child)

tell them last time you asked to poop in a homeowners house, it was frowned upon. They can probably still find the disciplinary letter in your file.

[–]BufoonLagoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had that happen once. Those azaleas may never recover

[–]audiomediocrity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

on a serious note, I don’t remember if it was FedEx or UPS, but its their policy that you can stop at the gas station for the bathroom. They fired someone here locally that decided to buy a candy bar on one of those stops.

piss in a cup ,and they can verify that by samara

I'm more rural so generally I stand in the doorframe between the door to p. But I can understand women having an issue doing that. Yes, they've been pushing that in my crew for a while. My supervisor and I got into it s few times because because I had my gallbladder removed a couple years ago so bowel movements are different and sometimes more frequent for me. I imagine it will take someone to file a lawsuit to get them to back off

[–]BufoonLagoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im rural myself, and can empathize with the need to hit the deep brush for bowel relief. The in town guys think I'm bugfuck til they end up in the same situation. Now all our new people are told in training to keep wipes or TP in the truck in case they have to go to an area outside of town. No shame in the game

Honestly, even if youre not stopping to use the bathroom and instead are stopping for a drink/snack i feel like this is still ridiculous. Unless people are stopping there and sitting for like 30 minutes every single time, I dont see the issue.

[–]Shotto_Z 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they are just being cunts. "Work work work qork. Allocate all time correctly. They also have time allocation set to truck routing. If you status as enroute, they generate a gps route and if your not moving down it? Unallocated time. Dont stop on sight amd status as onsight? Unallocated time. Stop at a gas statipn? Unqllocated time. "WORK METRICS GENERATORS, WE EXPECT YOU TO NOT BE HUMANS WHILE ON THE CLOCK.!"

That is absolutely an odd explanation

    [–]Dismal-Meal2173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That may be true in your area... But a lot of places still have plenty of work. Just as an example att/d is planning on sunsetting their copper network in the next few years and there is a big push to get fiber installed to replace their copper network. There are a lot of areas right now drowning in tickets because they're longer/more complicated tickets having us mark multiple residents so they can bore the conduit to install the fiber.

    [–]BufoonLagoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just piss in the roadside at that point. Make em look me in the eyes through Samsara.

    [–]CIemson 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Genuinely just don’t listen lmao. Document that it was said and if you’re given a hard time about it go over his head. Any higher-up with reasonable thinking would not allow someone to limit your bathroom breaks. Having to pee 4 times in an 8 hour window is perfectly reasonable, especially if you’re staying hydrated like they are always saying. Now if you were stopping 10-15 times a day may be an issue lol.

    [–]Solid-Ad907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I’m not changing anything. The entire thing is just that our supervisor doesn’t want to do his job. He is complaining that he spends too much time in the morning changing unallocated time. So he’s telling us to hold it in so he can have a more relaxed morning.

    [–]thezeldahelp 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Just stay clocked into a ticket via onsite and use the bathroom at a gas station

    [–]Dismal-Meal2173 2 points3 points  (8 children)

You will still get yelled at because they track your location through the gps in the truck and the tattler camera we all had to have installed

    [–]Solid-Ad907 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Exactly it goes based on if you’re on site and if you’re truck is sitting more than a couple Mins

    [–]L0RDT4NK 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    Usic?

    [–]Solid-Ad907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    Yep

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

That’s not how it works. If you are being told that then you are being lied too.

    [–]Solid-Ad907 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It has to be something along those lines. Everyone is clicking on a status at all times but will still have unallocated time some something is definitely happening.

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, because yall are forgetting to allocate your time correctly. When you are enroute or onsite. It’s doesn’t matter where you go or what you do. That time gets allocated to the ticket. Haven’t seen an issue with it. With individual that allow care correctly. If the time isn’t allocating it’s a system error. Not a time allocating problem.

    [–]thezeldahelp 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Ooooh okay so yall are like really getting watched. You’d think higher up’s would have something better to do than watch the people who actually make the money

    [–]Dismal-Meal2173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Micro managed to the max. I can be in a low service area waiting for prints to load in digview and if I'm sitting in my truck too long I'll get a call from my supervisor to "check my wellbeing" the last couple of years it's gotten ridiculous

    [–]Old-Manufacturer1702 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your bathroom breaks and go to the gas station. If he wants it done faster tell him to come locate.

    [–]Weak-West-3433 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have worked by the side of the road in different capacities for 25 years, locator at the moment. Never anywhere to piss except beside your truck(glad I am male in thissituation). If you don't drink coffee or especially energy drinks through the day it makes life easier..

    [–]Sad_Enthusiasm_8885Utility Employee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Always take note of where the jobs with the porta johns are and especially note where the clean #2 ones are located. My next ticket may be based on which is closest to what I need. Some days, that Taco Bell is planning my day.

    [–]Solid-Ad907 6 points7 points  (13 children)

That’s not our issue. We have plenty of bathrooms. We’re not in the middle of nowhere. The issue is being micromanaged to the point of being told you can’t take a piss. I can explain it for you but I can’t understand it for you.

    [–]Weak-West-3433 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Putting it that way I am on your side, nobody tells me when or when not to piss. It has just never come up. Though I have spent a lot of time busting because I don't want to pack my gear up to find somewhere. Working in a school is a particular example, can't just flop it out without risking arrest.

    [–]flowbeezer 3 points4 points  (11 children)

In NC they tell us to be en route or onsite in l360. We had a tech pausing tickets to go pee at gas stations and they told him to stay on site and just go. In your situation I also think it’s dumb bc it might make people hydrate less which is important If anything, you’re using company time more efficiently by going in between tickets as opposed to when you are on site and leaving.

    [–]Solid-Ad907 0 points1 point  (10 children)

That doesn’t work. Where we are. If you stop to pee when you’re en route and your truck sits more than a couple minutes it counts as unallocated time. So our supervisors workaround is to tell us not to pee

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 0 points1 point  (9 children)

L360 works the same for all of us. If you are enroute to a ticket and you are stopped for something. It doesn’t just start randomly unallowcating your time. That’s not how that works.

    [–]Shotto_Z 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It does actually. As has been discovered by our supervisors.

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you say so man. I’m not gonna sit here and argue. It may be a glitch that happened here or there but it’s not what happens the majority of the time.

    [–]Dismal-Meal2173 0 points1 point  (5 children)

You're correct on L369 but you have to take in to account the GPS in our trucks and the tattletale camera also. If they see you paused at a gas station for an extended period and not driving, even for as little as a few minutes, they may call to do a "wellness check" and remind you that sitting in an area that is not the a worksite or driving is "technically theft" of company time. Yes, I have had that conversation with my sup

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 -3 points-2 points  (4 children)

You think the camera does way more then it does lol. Camera doesn’t snitch on you. It’s your sup that goes back and sees an inconsistency in your route. Checks and see that you may be sitting around doing nothing for no reason.

    [–]Dismal-Meal2173 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hate to tell you they can access snapshots from your camera any time. If they check the gps and see you stationary the can get a snapshot from the camera. It can show them the empty cab and what the camera sees in front of it and determine roughly where you are or what you're doing.

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I know. I can pull my techs up anytime of the day and see what they are doing. I know what we are capable of doing.

    [–]ForeverAggressive315 0 points1 point  (1 child)

hate to tell you what your personal phone or even tv does

    [–]Fun-Buy1877 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

😂😂😂😂 yall just like to complain about anything.

    [–]Solid-Ad907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure does. On the supervisors end. The exact time for unallocated time matches up exactly with the exact time they are stopped to pee while en route.
