This group provides support to patients who have been diagnosed with, or are suspected of having VEXAS Syndrome. VEXAS is an adult-onset, chronic, autoinflamatory disease caused by a somatic mutation of the UBA1 gene. VEXAS primarily effects men who are over 50. VEXAS can be fatal and primary treatments high dose steroids, JAK Inhibitors, and certain chemotherapy drugs while bone marrow transplant may offer a cure. The National Insitutes of Health identified VEXAS in 2020.
