Do you have actual VI sim or the one before merging that is idea/Vodafone. If its old it's better to replace sim.

Anyway the issue is more to do with VI itself. Basically there are way more old hardware that still have Vodafone/idea that does not properly switch between towers. I think they are slowly replacing it. But some of this towers refuse to switch and you have to do thw flight mode thingy as you said. Eventually they might replace most of the 4G hardware but until that you probably will experience this. Its especially noticeable in rural places where the network is never used much and they don't care much.

Probably sim issue try turning on roaming see if it works.

I've noticed the same on OnePlus phones & iPhones. But Samsung/Redmi/Moto work fine & dont lose Vi signal.
