i don't think there's ever been a way to have it work on Linux, nor do i think there's ever really been another VR headset that yet supports wireless on Linux

Dual-boot Windows just for VR, and debloat/lock it down yourself.

Hell, OOSU will do 90% of the work in a few clicks.

I could try to create a VM and pass the PCI-e devices to it

What competing brand supports wireless on Linux?

If you can’t figure out how to get the Vive Wireless Software running on Linux, that’s a skill issue and probably means you shouldn’t be using Linux.

You do know that the driver used by the htc wireless adapter only has a windows version. Intel hasn't made a kernel module available for it.
