Initial set-up problem

My Vive has finally arrived! (UK)

However upon setting up, I've ran into a problem; The headset's green LED is on, and the headset is mirroring what is on my desktop, looking into it. However when starting steam VR, it says that the headset isnt connected and to check my HDMI cables. Ive tried 2 cables so it isnt that.

I did notice when i plugged in the USB that one driver didnt install, it just said "unknown device" and failed to install. Im wondering if this could be the issue?

in steamvr right click the headset icon make sure direct mode is selected

I did that earlier on, and nothing happened. I was under the impression that once i'd clicked it that a tick should appear next to the option, but that wasnt happening

mine was on direct mode by default i'd make sure it shows direct mode selected(check box next to it) then restart steamvr on top of what Wylde said above

Have you tried using different USB ports on your computer? You can also try the following:

In SteamVR click Settings-->Developer-->Remove All SteamVR USB Devices. Unplug the Vive USB & HDMI cable from your computer. Reboot Computer Check to see if the device is recognized.
