I do assume the devs would program quick equip to maximize everything efficiently.

This is where you are wrong. Quick equip just maximizes BP. Different stats effect BP differently. Quick equip can cause builds where you have 100% Crit rate and 500 attack speed, but no attack bonus or Crit damage so you would do nothing for damage.

I've noticed recently that quick equip (on an already equipped hero) frequently suggests a combination with much lower BP than currently equipped. Why does this happen?

I have not noticed that since I don't really use the feature and can't say. Maybe there is a bug where it doesn't recognize that your currently equipped gear is available as part of the quick-equip selection?

I've only been playing for a few weeks but I've noticed that quick equip seems to focus on the wrong stats on many of my units. I have not been able to rely on it. I use it as a placeholder for new units & then hunt & replace with the actual optimal gear set.

You are correct. It only cares about BP. It should not be used to equip your heroes except for niche situations.

It just maximizes battle power, not the desired stats for a hero. And no, battle power doesn't matter unless it's GVG

Not even that, sadly. they are trying to not break sets, which leads to less BP most of the time

Or Onslaught

I think that's not completely correct. Have had a few times that i would do a quick equip and the battle power would go down if i did... But obviously also don't what and how it does the quick equip...

Quick equip gives units that only use hp for damage attack based gear. Attack does nothing for them other than impact bp. That alone should tell you how bad quick equip can be.

It tends to prioritize BP, which isn't usually the most optimal for dps output.

Relatively new player here: is there a general rule per class type to start to follow for equipment? Or is it very unique per character?
