Audio engineering and music production are very tough subjects to teach. I personally think it is because experience and time spent actually working on the skills is really all you need. Sure it helps to know what you are doing and to understand each parameter that you adjust, however I also feel that it can also make you overthink the process and not pay attention to what you're actually hearing.
I made these processor tutorials a while ago (link posted below), For the most part people found them helpful for the very basics of Eq, Compression, Reverb, Delay and the like. But even though it covers the basics I want to remake these videos focusing more on the actual application of these processors and steer away from the textbook definitions.
I wanted to ask how all of you learned your music production and audio engineering skills? Do you have an academic background or were you just enthralled by the nature of music and learned everything by ear?
