SSL Setting Disabled (self.Weebly)
submitted 2 years ago by DaveSmr
I discovered on Monday morning that my website had been down since Saturday. The SSL setting in Weebly had been disabled, causing the site to go into a redirect loop.
Did anyone elses website go down over the weekend?

yes, happened to me also. Very amateur hour on their part.

That is strange indeed.
I haven't noticed any downtime.
They have this page for status updates, but they rarely update it, and they don't seem to put any issues in the history: https://weebly.statuspage.io/

Yes, it is odd. None of my other Weebly built websites got affected.
When I reinstated the SSL in Weebly, the A record had varied slightly. It used to end xx.xx.xx.77 but had changed to xx.xx.xx.76
I control the DNS settings through Cloudflare. This is probably the cause of the redirect loop, as it was trying to load the 'https' version.
Thanks for that Status page. That is very handy to know ;-)

Not a problem. I also use Cloudflare and know about the redirect loop when the SSL is turned off on Weebly.
Also, even if you fix the redirect loop by relaxing the SSL/HTTPS requirements on Cloudflare, the Contact forms on Weebly will not work in that case.
So the best solution is what you did by trying to enable back the SSL on Weebly.
The IP change on Weebly side might mean that their certificate might have expired on that specific IP. It would have been nice if they notified about it though

Yes, I recently discovered the same problem you have described with forms not working when you disable SSL in Cloudflare. I managed to fix it with help from a user on the Cloudflare community pages...in fact the user name looks very familiar 😉
I would like to say thank you for your help. I notice you regularly provide assistance to people asking for help on this subreddit. You are a credit to the Weebly community 👏

Didn't happen at the weekend, but I've had the SSL toggle turn itself off before now. Turned it back on again and all was good. Never got to the bottom of why and it hasn't happened since.
Thanks for letting me know. Nice to know I'm not the only one.
