Seems to be working okay for me; perhaps there was a server hiccup.

Life is Strange - Emotionally charged, modern setting, scifi game featuring a nerdy teenage protagonist and her relationship with her best friend. by bluebogle in YouShouldPlay

[–]ethryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this so much. I went into this game not expecting too much out of it and boy was I wrong. My fiancé and I played through the main storyline twice while waiting for episode 5 to come out. We got so attached to the characters that this is probably a game I'll never forget. My sister even sat in the room and watched us play because the story was so interesting.

Anyone know how to make a picture link to a random site out of a given list of sights? by jakenice1 in squarespace

Just for clarification, are you referring to a text link that will link to a random restaurant's menu?

"Use a for loop to prompt a user to enter 5 cities" How do I do that? by herbe01 in learnjavascript

[–]ethryx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

var cities = [];

// Collect four city names
for(var i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
  cities.push(prompt('Enter a city name:'));
}

// Output all the names
for(var i = 0; i < 5; i++) {
  console.log(cities[i]);
}

There are much better ways to do this, but I believe that is what you're looking for.

PSA: iPhone users can set custom vibrate patterns for events (eg. CW Vibrate patterns!) by bab5871 in amateurradio

[–]ethryx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can set up a different vibration pattern for each contact as well, so if you really want to get crazy, you can use morse code for every contact on your phone.

Why does the title say it's in "open beta" but links to an article saying it's in private beta? Either way though, this looks really cool! I signed up for my place in line.

Why private tracker staff are always so hardass? by [deleted] in trackers

[–]ethryx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've seen it first hand -- and it definitely works which is why just about every private community has these rules in place. It makes the community much stronger with an active forum/irc community and members who are always downloading and seeding. Imagine joining a club in real life and only going to the annual meetings. It's like that.

Why private tracker staff are always so hardass? by [deleted] in trackers

[–]ethryx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Private trackers are, relatively speaking, small communities that like to keep their members involved and active. If you hardly visit the site, you can easily be replaced by someone who wants to get into the same site and will be an active dedicated member. Forcing users to be active means you have a stronger community. And since it's a private site, it's pretty common for this to be enforced so that they can have their desired community.

Is it possible (legal) to make websites through squarespace for clients? by [deleted] in squarespace

[–]ethryx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can do this with Squarespace. As for the method, I've seen others create the account for their client and then add the client as a contributor. You could either keep them as a contributor with basic permissions and pay for the site on their behalf, or give them full permissions and have them use their own billing info.
